Situated in one of Church Street’s ornate period buildings, Autumn Gallery has been selling beautifully crafted, high-end jewellery to the locals of Brighton since 1990.
The family-owned and operated store is managed by jeweller, Leigh Brimley and his wife Sharlene Duckworth, a certified diamond grader who also runs the showroom floor.
Specialising in fine jewellery, Autumn Gallery sells a range of high quality silver pieces along with gemstone, diamond and pearl jewellery including antique, new and custom products.
Other services include jewellery and watch repairs, remakes and conversions.
Mr Brimley said as manufacturing jewellers, most of their product was designed and made right there on the premises, which allowed them to work directly with clients to create customised, made-to-order pieces.
“We use the most advanced manufacturing processes such as 3D printing, computer assisted design and laser assembly combined with traditional handmade techniques,” he said.
Mr Brimley and Ms Duckworth also make several trips overseas to jewellery auctions in Europe and Asia each year to purchase one-off pieces and gemstones for the store.
Ms Duckworth said they always looked for gemstones with that “special something”.
“We just got a beautiful Columbian emerald in from Paris, it’s stunning and definitely has its own personality,” she said.
“At the moment it’s on display in the shop window but we’re going to make it up into a beautiful cluster ring with diamonds all the way around.”
Being an independent jeweller, Ms Duckworth said fostering meaningful relationships with customers was very important to Autumn Gallery, particularly as the majority of their business came through word of mouth.
“We see generations of families coming through the store which is really special,” she said.
“People bought their engagement ring from us and now their children are coming in to buy theirs. It’s beautiful to see.”
Autumn Gallery Jewellery is located at 86 Church St, Brighton. It is open Monday to Saturday from 10am – 5pm.
