Bright n Sandy Food and Wine Festival returns to Brighton for 13th year

The Bright n Sandy Food and Wine Festival returns to Brighton for its 13th year later this month, and the program is packed.

The festival will be held at Brighton’s Green Point gardens and is expected to attract thousands of visitors, bringing together the community with good food, drink and entertainment.

The festival started in 2005 in conjunction with the baton relay for the Commonwealth Games. Green Point was used as a ‘celebration venue’ as part of the course, which continued along the foreshore.

A ‘picnic in the park’ style event evolved which showcased local food exhibitors and had a small stage with music.

The Bright n Sandy Food and Wine Festival, as it is known today, attracts more than 6,500 people and has nearly 50 exhibitors including an artisan market and a boutique bar. It also includes a demonstration tent with celebrity chefs.

At this year’s event, more than 35 food and wine vendors will offer tastings, alongside a number of market stalls selling handmade goods.

The MINI Spritz bar will return to offer a place to relax and listen to some live music.

Bright n Sandy caters to everyone, including the littlest members of the family. The kids can break a sweat on a smoothie bike, have their face painted, take part in arts and crafts, get a henna tattoo and take a cooking class. All the fun can be documented with a photo in the free photo booth.

If you’re an aspiring cook-in-the-making be sure to check out the on-stage cooking demonstrations.

Daniel Wilson from Huxtaburger, Todd Moses from French Saloon and Adam D’Sylva from Coda and Tonka are just some of the leading local chefs taking part. Church Street favourite Pantry will also host The Pantry Cooking Show.

There will also be a large selection of wine, beer and cider exhibitors including Red Hill Brewery, Oakridge Wines and Wold of the Willows.
