Brighton art events to inspire creative side

Help celebrate the diverse world of art in Brighton with a variety of upcoming events.

Art takes many forms and can be made by anyone, and these events celebrate the young, the emerging, the experienced and, most importantly, the local.

Our culture is reflected and documented in the art that we create which means supporting our artists is vital in preserving our history.

Exhibitions, workshops, markets and more can be found in abundance in Brighton over the coming weeks so don’t miss out.

Target: Bayside Art and Design Graduates

Target is an exhibition entirely made up of works by 2016 VCE and IB graduates. The exhibition showcases the works of 46 students and ranges from photography to painting, sculpture, textiles and more.

Date: Open until Sunday, March 12 (Gallery opening hours: Wednesday to Friday: 11am – 5pm, Saturday to Sunday: 1pm – 5pm)

If you’re interested in experimenting with mixed media then this workshop with Billilla Mansion’s artist in residence Jo Roszkowski is for you.

Roszkowski will guide participants through the process of botanical fabric dying, ceramics and drawing after collecting materials from the Billilla Mansion gardens. This workshop offers artists at any stage of their career to come together to swap theories and insights about art while learning some new tricks of the trade.

Time: 1pm

Venue: Participants will meet Jo at Billilla artist’s community space, 26 Hallifax St, Brighton. From there, they will head to The Gallery at Bayside Arts and Cultural Centre.

Bayside Design Market

The Bayside Design Market is an opportunity for local creators to display and sell their work to the community.

Taking place at the Billilla Mansion gardens, the market offers visitors a chance to enjoy the scenery and support local artists. On the day, music will be provided by the Bayside Chamber Orchestra.
